McClatchy-Tribune Information Services (MCT)

McClatchy-Tribune Information Services is a for-profit joint venture of two long-established newspaper groups, The McClatchy Company and the Tribune Co. MCT’s mission is based on a simple premise: Combine the best work of some of America’s top newspapers and MCT’s talented staff in a service that offers an abundance of high-quality content for newspapers, Web sites and electronic distributors.

MCT has more than 1,000 media customers worldwide, and about 45 million newspaper readers see MCT content each day. Most customers are in the United States, but MCT’s market is global. MCT content is sold to newspapers, online services, electronic information distributors and television stations.

The joint venture primarily involves employees in two cities who work for two companies. In Washington, D.C., MCT employees edit and create content, including news and feature stories, photos, graphics, illustrations, paginated pages, caricatures and animations. In Chicago, the staff of Tribune Media Services markets, sells and provides customer service to the newspapers and other media organizations that purchase MCT content.

MCT services are delivered via the Internet at www.krtdirect.com or www.newscom.com; via high-speed networks operated by the Associated Press.
